Originally the group was formed as Southcide Elements out of high school. The project was established by three friends interested in accepting a challenge.
From the beginning their musical style was inspired by (at the time) underground hip-hop acts like, Jurassic 5, Dilated Peoples, and Black Eyed Peas.
The trio eventually said goodbye to one of its members and moved forward with two. Both remaining members then made the decision to shed their early title and
brand themselves as a catalyst for change in their respective local scene.
rapoem, the current name, was chosen based on the concept of their delivery styles. It is pronounced and signifies the purity of a raw poem.
After denouncing any notion to follow current trends, they decided to expand their potential with innovative concepts and formats. During a two year span they recorded, released,
and performed material from an independently produced ep. While working on new material, one of the two members from the original project decided to pursue other opportunities.
Thus the material went unheard and a new direction was drawn up.
With an unwavering desire, Pferal Spectrum moved forward with new pieces. By adding Migrant Son and Dj3stripes to his creative team, they now look toward another opportunity to
challenge each other. Progress at this point has been relatively slow, but these unsigned artists are still working hard to fund their dream. Though the project’s future is uncertain,
they intend to tackle this task with limitless expression and a positive state of mind.
